As part of food chains, they consume many tree, shrub, and grass plant parts (leaves, petioles, twigs, shoots, fruits, seeds) and occasionally insects, while being consumed by birds of prey ( eagles, owls ), large cats (lions, leopards), jackals, snakes, and mongooses.
