WebIron poisoning is characterized by four clinical stages (2). The first stage -- with a duration of up to 6 hours after ingestion -- is characterized by acute onset of gastrointestinal symptoms (i.e., vomiting and diarrhea) that may progress to shock, coma, seizures, and death.
