WebBrickficiency is the tool you are looking for. Unfortunatly it's not built into Bricklink and takes a few extra steps but it will save you a ton of cash. Donate some of your savings to the Brickficiency author ;) With Bricklink and Brickficiency you want to use the most common alternative with each brick.
